ABOUT

School Talk was established in 1987 and is the oldest freely distributed publication of its kind in South Africa. The newspaper came into existence as part of a monumental Back to School campaign – a call for South Africa’s black learners to return to school after turbulent times in townships and communities across the country.

In its 25 years of existence, School Talk has distributed millions of newspapers to South Africa’s developing youth. Looking ahead to the next 25 years, School Talk will continue to position itself as a newspaper that creates awareness of the challenges facing learners in disadvantaged and developing communities, and that actively promotes literacy and social development.
